Mermaid Smoothie Bowl

Even in winter smoothie bowls are still a winning breakfast. This smoothie bowl has a real kick to it, with warming spices to keep you feeling good even on the coldest of mornings.

To get the blue I used Nutra Organics Mermaid Latte (https://www.nutraorganics.com.au/collections/lattes/products/mermaid-latte-sachet), which includes ginger, cinnamon and ginseng and cayenne pepper. So the smoothie has a real kick to it. But these are also the spices that warm you up and provide an abundance of nutrition.

The blue hue comes from Blue Spirulina and Butterfly Pea Flower. Spirulina is an algae that has become more widely available over the years and it has a raft of health benefits including being a source of protein. It contains chlorophyll which supports digestive health and antioxidants to keep your cells healthy and fit.

Mermaid Smoothie Bowl

(makes 1)

Ingredients

  • ½ of 6g sachet Nutra Organics Mermaid Latte
  • 1 frozen banana
  • ¾ cup coconut water

Optional Toppings

  • 1 orange
  • ¼ cup blueberries
  • 1 tsp hemp seeds
  • ½ tsp bee pollen
  • ½ tsp chia seeds
  • 2 TBS coconut flakes

Directions

1.Combine smoothie ingredients in a blender and blend until well combined.

2.Top with your choice of toppings.

Tips:

- always choose seasonal fruit for your toppings

- the Mermaid Latte mix has a strong flavour, so start off with a small amount and build to your liking and taste
