Everyone will want to be your friend if you make this post party smoothie the next morning. Christmas and New Years is such a fun time. It’s a time to unwind, celebrate, socialise and enjoy. It is also a time of indulgence for many, and that’s OK, because life if all about balance. That’s where this post party smoothie will step in and help you recover from the period of festivity.

 

Don’t be put off by the ingredients. It’s full of flavour, zing and body loving nutrients. Many people are led to believe a juice cleanse is the best way to support detoxification, however for your body’s detox pathway to function correctly you need protein. Beetroot is also a fabulous vegetable to include because it is known as the “blood cleanser”; it supports the body to produce glutathione a potent antioxidant known for removing toxins.

 

 

Post Party Smoothie (serves 2)

Ingredients

¼ cup raw beetroot, chopped or grated

½ green apple, chopped or grated

½ cup frozen strawberries

1 frozen banana

1 serve protein powder

1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

1.5 cups coconut water

 

Directions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a blender and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • depending on your blender power you may need to grate the beetroot and apple. I use a Nutribullet and it definitely needed grating to blend.
  • add some ice cubes to your glass to make it ice cold on a warm summer morning
